Sometimes We Feel Unnoticed
This has been a very busy few weeks for me, and I just wanted to let you know that I will not be blogging much for a few weeks.
If you keep up with my blog at all, you know that I’ve just released an ebook to help you celebrate Christmas without breaking the bank.
This book is very personal for me, because it is full of ideas that our family loves and uses.
Thank you for all of your kind words about it. It is a weird feeling to put your heart into something, and then release it…and wait for a reaction. 🙂 That was new to me. But it came with mixed emotions.
I spent more time away from my kids than I accustomed to…and as you know, I want to look back with no regrets. And you can’t do everything without things starting to unravel. So…I NEED to regain control of my house and give my kids extra time. Peter and the kids were so supportive of my writing efforts, and now I need to give them some extra special attention. And, did you know that Rebekah is coming home for Thanksgiving?? Yes, I am a happy woman! 🙂
Anyway, yesterday in church my father-in-law preached about an obscure “disciple” of God, a faithful man, Ananais. What was so special about him?
Not much other than he was in tune with God, ready, willing and chosen for a certain task because he was faithfully serving WHERE HE WAS.
HE was doing right in his home. He had a good report among Christians and “with those who walk without”–the unbelievers.
Here’s the scripture from Acts 9:
10 In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!”
“Yes, Lord,” he answered.
11 The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus) named Saul, for he is praying. 12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”
13 “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. 14 And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”)
15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”
17 Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, 19 and after taking some food, he regained his strength.
This blog post is exactly why I subscribe to your blog – your honesty and wisdom is so encouraging! I always seem to ask myself how busy moms, especially bloggers, can get so much done including writing e-books but I know there’s more to it that makes it all happen. There are so many days I truly feel like I can’t get it all done, like all that I’m doing is not going anywhere and then I’m reminded through messages like this that my labor is for Him, no matter who sees or who applauds 🙂 Your blog post also ties in really well with my devotional today:
Anywhere and everywhere we may dwell “with the king for his work.” We may be in a very unlikely and unfavorable place for this; it may be in a literal country life, with little enough to be seen of the “goings” of the King around us; it may be among the hedges of all sorts, hindrances in all directions; it may be furthermore, with our hands full of all manner of pottery for our daily task.
No matter! The King who placed us “there” will come and dwell there with us; the hedges are right, or He would soon do away with them. And it does not follow that what seems to hinder our way may not be for its very protection; and as for the pottery, why, that is just exactly what He has seen fit to put into our hands, and therefore it is, for the present, “His work.”
Excellent reminder Sarah! thanks so much for sharing! Sorry that I haven’t been over to read in a little bit. Things have been rather busy here. 🙂 But I did read what I missed and as always, I’m glad that I took the time. Thanks for being an encourager in the Lord!
