Weekend Edition
What’s new in my house? Why has this blog been so quiet? Well, SUMMER. 🙂
My days look like: looking for summer jobs for kids, searching for college scholarships, entertaining friends, grilling out, beach days, reading aloud at night, getting ready for Vacation Bible School and packing for summer camp.

I’ve been reading:
A mish-mash really. I’m going through Ephesians in my personal study time with a few favorite commentaries, reading Anything: The Prayer That Unlocked My God and My Soul in a summer book group with a few friends, and reading A Child’s Garden of Verses
by Robert Louis Stevenson to Hope. Actually, she’s reading it out loud to me. (It is the Jessie Wilcox Smith edition. She has the sweetest illustrations.)
Blogs I am enjoying:
Kate Davis. Seriously. At 19 she started Amazima Ministries in Uganda. I don’t know if I feel good or bad after reading this blog. I think the feeling is overwhelmed on so many levels. Overwhelmed by her determination and joy. Overwhelmed at the work she has before her. Overwhelmed with admiration for the way she’s taken on the posture of servant. Grab some tea and sit and read some of her last few posts. I can’t read over there without crying. I want to purchase one of these neclaces just to give her a high five and support her work. Also, this post is amazing by Ann Voskamp who is in Uganda right now.

I’m also new to the Spirited Mind. Lots of great book reviews over there by Catherine, an avid reader just like me. 🙂
And I’m reading Laura’s posts even though she’s on a summer blogging break. She has a thoughtful writing style that I enjoy.
I want to learn: French pastry making. I want to buy almond flour, yes, I do. 🙂
Things you should know:
1. You can still enter to win an autographed copy of Touching The Hem here.
2. You’ve heard of eShakti?
They have adorable retro clothing that you can customize the way you like. They have a deal going on right now where you can $25 OFF your first order. Also, I believe you can combine that with another offer of a $30 shipping voucher for brand new customers if you sign up by June 25th.
I love that I can order a shirt and then ask them to make it with 3/4 length sleeves. Hello, Jackie O. 🙂

I love that poem as well. I’ve had my kids memorize many of them, including Foreign Lands, Bed in Summer, At the Seaside, Land of Counterpane, and more…just because mom loved them. 🙂
Stevenson’s “Bed in Summer” is one of my favorite poems ever, Sarah! What a blessing to read that collection of verse with your daughter. In fact, your whole summer sounds full of blessings!
