Summertime’s here!

Here are a few good reads for your weekend down time.

Too many toys limit your child’s creativity per Becoming Minimalists.  I was  so good at limiting what was available to my older three (R,E,M), and somewhere in the avalanche of kids I lost this skill. But never fear!  I have regained my senses. Yesterday I played “Mom  VS. Hope and Holly’s Room.” I am glad to say that I won.  It was hours of organizing and de-cluttering. I took out garbage bags full of stuffed animals…like six of them. There were tears, because every one of those animals is like a best friend apparently.  I have a theory that too many stuffed animal “friends” is really training them to value artificial Facebook friends later on. Okay, I am kidding.

I loved this article on child-raising entitled “Shelter is not a Place”  by Katherine @ Raising Five. Two themes that jumped out at me: unconditional love and consistency. How simple but true!

Summer is here!! I am wasting NO time thinking about getting into vacation mode since we finished school a whole 18 hours ago. ha,ha. Here are some ideas for inexpensive summer fun to get you thinking. read here
