Little Things

If you drop a crumb, pick it up.

Put your clothes IN the hamper.

Sweep in the corners and under the rugs.

Leave a room in better condition than when you entered it.

These are the little things that we try to teach our kids. They might shrug their shoulders, like what’s the big deal? But the big deal is that our little habits eventually become a lifestyle.

Little bad habits eventually yield big bad habits. Just like watering a weed. And the mother is left wondering why everything is so out of control.

In today’s culture, it is hard to find a child who is faithful, thorough, careful and dependable. Perhaps because their mothers are undisciplined themselves and are allowing them to slack on little things?

When you tell someone you’ll do something, remain true to your word.

When you pass in your homework, neatness counts.

Fold the bathroom towel after you use it.

Put the cover on the toothpaste.

As moms, do we keep set a good example for our kids? Do we keep promises and remain faithful to our word?

God cannot entrust us with big things when we have not been faithful in the little things.

Even in the seemingly mundane, when nobody sees but God, how you live your life is the person you are becoming.

Take a quick look at your life. Is it “Helter skelter”, or thoughtful and methodical?   The first breeds chaos; the second, dependability and order.

What little things are you teaching your kiddos?
