Why I Refuse to Worry {plus four great reads around the web}
My oldest daughter is now in Europe for 10 weeks. Would you pray for her? For growth, safety and usefulness to Christ?
If you are interested, you can keep up with her travels here. She is required to keep a journal of her trip in order to get college credit, and she loves photography, so she decided to do a “Travelouge.” Kids these days. 🙂
And I am determined not to worry about her. She is in good hands. The hands of our Good Shepherd.
Here are a few great reads from around the web:
1. Satan’s Desire for Mothers. If you can only read one today, make it this one. Competitive mothering is NOT healthy, nor Christian. Do not compare yourself to super mothers all around the world who post their gazillion accomplishments on Facebook or Pinterest. We don’t have to compete. We are complete in Him.
2. Forming Their Normal is an insightful piece about our behaviors becoming our kids “norms.” By Kara Chupp
3. One Thing That Will Make Your Soul Explode struck a cord with me. “Our souls were not made for fame. Our souls were made for the Famous One. O God, save us from ourselves.” by Emily Freeman (For the record, we do not watch American Idol.)
4. How to Flourish in Life by Elizabeth Johnson. Elizabeth is a woman of the Word and my childhood friend who lives with a chronic illness. I loved her quote “I was moping around, feeling sorry for myself and whining to God, and He gently nudged me and reminded me: focus on something else. As in, stop thinking about myself and get busy!”
This week was full of packing, family visits, saying goodbyes, planning flowers and a little “pizza garden” with Hope (oregano, tomatoes, peppers) and a salad garden (heirloom tomatoes, cukes, radish and spring lettuce mix) for me.
Gardening is not really my forte, but I feel compelled to do it because it is good for my kids. Hope was not really buying it: “Mom, can you dig this hole? I am getting dirty.”
The training continues. lol
Have a wonderful weekend with your family! God bless you all!
