Columbus Day Weekend

It is such a gorgeous weekend!

Hope getting cranberries to eat.
My dad--feeling better after his surgery and back at it.
Matt in his waders, ready to help.

I had seven, giggling little girls over last night, and it is always so fun to spend time listening to their little stories and hearing about their friends and school antics. During devotions, it is always neat to hear their questions and to see what is going on inside their little minds and  hearts. Today, all the kids went mountain climbing with Peter, and the teen youth group.

Today, I am tired. This whole week I have been tired, and a little discouraged by that.

But, today I get to spend the day with my mom and two of my sisters going out for lunch, shopping, sight seeing and “coffeeing up.” We are headed to an apple orchard to buy apples, because I just learned that my mother is not about to pick her own. 🙂

This coming week is supposed to be kinda crazy. My husband and I were supposed to go to a Pastors Conference Monday, then on Wednesday, our Emily is boarding a bus for South Carolina at 3 o’clock in the morning in Connecticut to go see Rebekah. Then this weekend, we  have a couples conference, which I am really excited about.  So it is one of those “here, there and everywhere” weeks where we are all going to be in a million places.

I decided to skip the conference on Monday so that I could be with the kids for a fun, restful day off.  We also need to pack up stuff to send down for Rebekah at school–who, by the way, has been told that she gets more care packages from home than anyone in the hall. he,he (Thanks to our two mothers and her  Aunts Judy and Nancy! :)) Em is so excited to see her!

If you are looking for a delicious breakfast for Columbus Day, may I suggest this one?

Pumpkin Waffles with Spiced Whipped Cream. I made it and they were delish! (more like dessert, than breakfast, I might add!)

And if you would like a pumpkin latte to go with that, I have a recipe here. 🙂

Enjoy your weekend and remember to thank God for your blessings!

“What if we woke up today with only the things that we had thanked God for yesterday?” Hmmmm….

  • Wonderful post, Sarah! I have been feeling sick all week and am now pretty much sick of feeling sick and onto feeling sorry for myself, but your post managed to turn it around. I am going to enjoy my inability to do much of anything and go sit in the sun with my pups 🙂

    • Sorry you are sick, Katy. 🙁 No fun. Yes, enjoy your lazy day. Life gets so busy somehow, doesn’t it? Hope you are well.

  • Enjoy your weekend and I trust you get some rest somewhere in between everything! I’m enjoying my weekend with my grandsons (and their parents) who are visiting from CT. My two other grandsons live in our town, so we get to see them too…always such a treat for this Nana that enjoys every minute with them. Would like to take my daughter-in-law (who grew up in IL) to see a cranberry bog with all the berries floating! She has never seen that! Such a beautiful sight…love your pictures!
